Elder Micah Bush

  The last few weeks have been very interesting  I love manhatten but i also hate it  Its a complicated relationship. Let me tell yall a few highlights... We got to be part of our friends baptism her name is rachel Rachel is what you might call a golden investigator or what we say one of the elect haha  Alot of the time i will be working super hard and try to do missionary work my way  When i say doing missionary work my way i mean that i have a bad habit of working with people that have no desire and are not progressing, i just think that if we just keep working with people they will eventually gain some sort of desire...  alot of the time people fall through but rachel truly was prepared by God  Literally our first conversation was insane. We bumped into her on the street and she told my comp elder hansen that she had already been reading the book of mormon on her own and she said "oh yeah and i want to be baptized into your church.." bro what. Crazy...

 Hello all This is elder bush just sending in another email (Idk how to start emails) im now serving in the city not in staten anymore Manhatten has been very interesting so far This is definitely what i imagined when i was called to nyc I swear i heard someone say "im walkin here" the other day  But im basically walkin up and down broadway and Amsterdam all day long haha some tall buildings and everything haha Its really weird walking through places that ive seen in famous movies  Like im walking through hells kitchen inviteing people to church and i feel like im going to bump into daredevil  But its hard work Alot more people are rich and prideful here Not to much success so far but we are talking to a few cool people  I actually didn't want to leave staten island  I had made alot of good friends there and had some super cool memories  But this new hard change made me remember some really good talks that ive had with some of my friends about not stay...

  This past transfer has been going by way fast Someone told me pretty early in my mission that there will come a day when you will feel confident in your skills as a missionary but then you will get a companion that will feel like he has to retrain you This is what this transfer has felt like My companion is really good and quite the skilled missionary, i am learning alot from him It was a little humbling at first but this is good  I always want to be the best at whatever im doing so this is a great way to help me realize i have a long way to go So now i can put my head down and go to work  Im still in staten island and it has been going great  Only problem is that it keeps snowing on us... today we had to dig out our car from 3 feet of snow  Not a lot of fun stories to put in this email because i have been really focusing on the work recently so yeah sorry im kind of boring  A smal spiritual thought  Last week i was reading a talk that my dad gave in...

  Hello everyone it's your boy elder mikey b These past weeks have been pretty eventful had a lot of drama going on in this District so that's always fun And something that was pretty cool is that one of the recent converts that we baptized a couple weeks ago his name is Max we are teaching his father and his father super cool he's been going to a lot of churches so when we shared with him the message of the restoration he said something like this is what I'm looking for so that was cool And then something that was less cool was that we had a freaking big storm hit the crap out of us on the East Coast and it was like a lot of wind a lot of snow and apparently this thing called freezing rain Let me tell you something about freezing rain man, I didn't know what freezing rain was before this weekend but now I do and that's about it man just watch out for the freezer rain bro Anyway the storm was bad enough to cancel the church this Sunday and that was a little bit ...

 Staten Island  This transfer ive been serving in staten island This is the 4th borough of nyc that ive served in so far, Manhattan is the only borough i havent served in yet Staten is very different from the other boroughs tho... It is much more suburban... and alot less people.. So everything ive learned in the past transfers can be thrown out the window. Its have been very fun tho I feel like this is more of a normal mission experience haha been parkinglot finding alotttt...   Why am i on a mission? This is what everyone has been telling me i need to figure out I always have some primary answers like  "I love God and want to spend 2 years at his service" "The gospel has blessed my life and i want to help others receive these blessings" These answers are all great and true i must assure you i am starting to realize that i might have these answers of why i think i am out here...   Hello everyone  Its been sometime Sorry with all the missed weeks but just wanted to write an email saying that the mission is going great Ive been learning alot! Its been some fun time I think one good thing ive realized recently is that sometimes when life gets really hard or you are going through a trial or whatever it may be... just remember that God is pushing you And at first i was confused why God would be pushing me, i would even say in my prayers stuff like "i dont understand why you are pushing me and stretching me so much"  But its vital that we remember that he is pushing us in a certain direction  I believe that the direction he pushes us is forward  This has been helpful recently  Starting to come to more of an understanding on how this mission will help me grow  Still miss rocket league tho....  Good day everyone  New york is weird. The work has been moving along People have been coming to church And we have been working super hard in this area Something that has been really helping me out recently has been changing my mindset from  "i still have to be in new york for 18 more months" ...to "i only have 18 more months to help these people here" It seems like that is kind of an obvious thing to change.. but its definitely something ive been working on and still need to improve on Not having to most successful start of my mission pushes me to try and work hard because i really want to make a difference and i limited time left here.   I got kicked out of Brooklyn and got transferred to the bronx Ive actually been in the bronx for a couple weeks now ive just been really bad at sending out emails There really isn't that many good excuses to not send one out so i will just say im sorry and try to move on and be better The new apartment im staying in now is crawling with bugs  Why me. I have probably doubled the stat in my life for the amount of roaches i have ever killed. Im getting pretty good at it  But it's not enough  For every one of their soldiers i kill there are twice as many reinforcements being made  Anyways on to the stuff you are hopefully wanting to hear about The work here is really good We baptized this super cool guy named rasheed on Saturday, and we were able to confirm him a member on sunday! The crazy story about him is that he was being taught in this area before i got here, but he fell out of contact and stopped keeping commitments so they stopped teaching him months ago.....

  I was dreading this day I knew it was coming though  Ive heard the stories of missionaries getting destroyed by birds... sometimes these stories kept me up at night The fateful day final came... I was fulfilling my purpose on the streets one day... and then it happened  A bird choose me as the place where it wanted to release its meal Sorry its been a long time since I sent one of these! Its been a busy transfer so far! Alot of success and a lot of failures  Its been so fun to learn how to take the next steps as a missionary  We have been working with so many cool people!   Hey everyone i am finishing my second transfer this week! That means i will be out of training... i still feel like i just got here And im still struggling to get a grasp of the basics of this work im supposed to do. That doesn't mean i haven't been trying my hardest. Trust me ive been putting my all into learning how to improve, im starting to think maybe im over thinking everything and should remember that if i try my best to be diligent God will help complete the rest I feel like im being stretched  That is good  Because i dont want to stay the same  Even though its hard. Anyways we are teaching some super cool people!  There is this guy that we met last week and he is so cool  Andrew is such an awesome person, he works for the Yankees! And he wants us to come to a game with him, but sadly we have to keep telling him we cant while we are missionaries here He is a little older but super humble!   Lets gooooooo  Yessir its elder bush back with another super short email  Alot has happened since the last time I emailed so i will try to remember as much as i can... My new companion who i haven't talked much about is so chill, and its very nice to have a comp that is super chill Not that my old comp wasn't, im just very grateful that i haven't gotten a super strict one yet... but i know it will happen soon  My comp (elder tatton) is the district leader so its weird to be what the mission calls a district leader wife He is very good at missionary work  But sometimes this makes me remember of how much more room i have to grow... Im not comparing me to my comp that much, its just that i want to be as good as him one day but i dont know how to do that yet... there are many skills i need to work on! I think it probably just comes with constant effort and alot of time  Anyways its been so good to try to learn from him Hes a dawg Its has been warming up here ...

  Hello! Its elder bush baby  I got transferred to Brooklyn this week!  After i sent the email last week i got the call that i would be leaving Jamaica queens to go finish my training somewhere else! So crazy Im not gonna lie i miss jamaica and the missionaries over there, i am in a way smaller district now so its not as much crazy Fun things that happened this week  I pranked one of the other missionaries in the Jamaica district before leaving queens, its smart because idk if he will ever be able to get me back because i left  Video will be on my google photos Hopefully its PG...   Yooo its elder bush! How is everyone? Make sure to send me emails if you haven't  Yes i missed sending an email last week, yes it will probably happened quite a bit. I am surprised that i have missed emails this soon in my mission but it is what it is Its very busy in new york and there is lots of work to be done, so much work that sometimes it even feels like whats the point in starting  I feel like i was pretty unfocused this past week, and maybe thats because it was general conference but there are no excuses, need to lock back in Some fun things that have happend and that i got a new volleyball shipped to me! Made it through another week!  New York has been super fun, but also missionary work here is very hard  This week i got the amazing chance to sit in a lesson with the Spanish elders, and it was a privilege for sure They brought me because they were going to teach 4 Honduran woman and they wanted another elder there present because they were scared haha  This was a crazy experience and let me tell you i have never listened to a lesson so closely in my life. I still understood nothing, but i really wanted to! Many times everyone would look at me and laugh hahaha The elder next to me told me that they were all just curious if i could tell what they were saying, but... i have no idea if he was telling the truth  Being sent Spanish speaking would be so cool, and it would be very nice if i could have the excuse that the reason i was bad at teaching was because i didn't know the language yet.   Hola everyone its elder bush lets gooooooo I survived another week yessirrrr  A bunch of crazy stuff happed this week but i cant really remember any of it so you will just have to trust me that alot of super cool things happened  One thing that i recall, is that ive been working pretty closely with another elder that is Spanish speaking, and now i can invite random people on the street to come visit the church on sunday! That is the extent of my Spanish so far tho, because after they respond i dont know what they say   We have also been going to the delis alot this week! I never really knew what a deli was before coming out here. But trust me i know what they are now. Maybe one of the best things ever created. Its pretty much a sandwich shop with a bunch of snacks in it and it also feels like a gas station but it also has everything you need to survive for the next 40 years Store/restaurant/gas station in one.   Hello everyone from elder bush! This week has been a super week Dont misunderstand me, queens is still super crazy and its still hard to adjust to the way missionary work is done here but i am trying to only have my focus be on the super awesome stuff From the words of a really smart and wise missionary: "Just enjoy your mission, and everything will be well!" To start the week off right we had a super fun pday and i played vollyball  I love volleyball so that was one of my favorite parts of this past week  Our district was pretty bad but we had some standout players Some of these players included the other greenie in the district, our district leader and one of our zone leaders.
